Whatever has brought you to my website, I am glad you are considering beginning your counseling journey. As a therapist, I am constantly astounded by the courage I witness when someone reaches out for help. It is no small feat to acknowledge that we may need the guidance of another. Perhaps you have found yourself at the end of your rope, or you're aching for change in your life, or you're ready to explore deeper but not sure where to begin. I am honored that you would consider allowing me to accompany you on this journey.
First and foremost, I am a counselor because I believe this profession is my soul's calling. The sense of fulfillment I experience when connecting in meaningful ways with clients is a true gift -- it really is an honor to bear witness to the journeys of my clients -- and to experience firsthand how the telling of one's stories can offer healing, renewal and hope. I consider myself to be a "feeler," meaning I empathize deeply with the emotions of others and find that my nonjudgmental listening can provide a sense of safety and calm.
I have also spent a considerable amount of time in my own therapeutic journey, so I am familiar with what it feels like to be in the client seat. I am closely acquainted with the process of looking inward and consider ongoing authentic reflection to be a core part of my life. I believe that reflecting and looking deeply into our hearts is a brave and bold journey, and to walk with another along their path as a therapist is a great honor.
My profession as a counselor is woven into many of the things I do in life. I believe every experience I have or role I play connects and enriches my professional self, and vice versa. I think of myself as a spiritual seeker and often view my experiences as opportunities to connect, change, and grow. I am a wife and mother, and spend as much time as possible with my family. I am passionate about holistic wellbeing, and strive to live with an open heart, curiosity, compassion, and constant learning. I am a cycling and group fitness coach at Studio Q Fitness in Fort Collins, CO, where I incorporate mindset training with safe and effective approaches to help others reach (or exceed!) their goals. Integrating the psychological and emotional components of the human experience with physical exertion is one of my greatest passions. I love to run long distances, especially on trails, and to ride my road bike up mountains; I experience great pleasure in nature, books, writing, cooking, and creating art. Along my own path I have encountered many joys and many sorrows, and I believe it is in embracing the fullness of it all that we find life, ourselves, and meaning.
